2006 Fundraisers

February 2006  American Heart Association: Go Red for Women
Heart disease is the number one killer of women in America. We were thrilled to be able to contribute to an organization that does so much for millions of people. We are still proud to wear the “Go Red for Women” pins and bracelets!
March 2006  Mid South Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society
We are happy to work with our local chapter in fundraising for this sometimes debilitating disease. MS affects 400,000 Americans and many more are diagnosed daily. Being able to assist the Mid South Chapter with their endeavors in providing the families of MS help is a great joy.
April 2006  Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity®
Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity brings together people with resources and people in need to build simple, decent, affordable houses. The houses are sold to those in need at no profit, through no-interest loans. Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1989 and has built 60 homes in the Rutherford County community alongside families in need. We are looking forward to helping RCHFH reach their goal of building 100 homes in Rutherford County by the year 2010.
May 2006  Middle Tennessee Tornado Victims and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Nashville
For the first week of May we collected donations for those who are in need in our own back yard. Through a Jazzercise class that two CCE employees attend, we raised money for those affected by the tornados in April. The two hardest hit areas, Hendersonville and Gallatin, are just a short distance from our Nashville offices. Donations were given to the Hendersonville Samaritan Association and Gallatin Cares. In this one week period, CCE employees donated $245.

For the remaining month of May we selected  the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Nashville. Their mission is to keep families close by providing essential resources and a home away from home for families of critically ill children receiving inpatient or outpatient medical care at Nashville area hospitals. Among monetary donations, they also have a "Wish List" of supplies and necessities needed for the RMHC homes.
June 2006  VH1 Save the Music Foundation
Since its inception in 1997, VH1 Save The Music has donated nearly $30 million worth of musical instruments to 1,200 public schools in 80 cities, improving the lives of more than 500,000 children. We are looking forward to helping this great foundation as they embark on assisting another school in the Nashville area.
July 2006  CaringBridge™
Laughs, tears, words of hope, words of sorrow and sometimes just words. This organization provides a great service to those wishing to stay in touch with family and friends during significant life events. They offer a quick and easy way to create personal websites that display journal entries, photographs, a guestbook and more. As of June 1, 2006 they have hosted nearly 41,000 CaringBridge sites.
August 2006  Madison Special School
Madison is a special day school for those students whose learning differences are so significant that they cannot effectively learn within the context of a less restrictive environment. Students are referred to Madison through the Individualized Education Plan Team. Students have access to a variety of services and professionals to help achieve academic success. We are excited to be a part of a local school that provides their unique students nurturing by caring teachers.
September 2006  MDA: Duchenne & Becker Muscular Dystrophy
Since its inception in 1950 the MDA has fought neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical and community services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. With national headquarters in Tucson, MDA has more than 200 offices across the country, sponsors 230 hospital-affiliated clinics and supports nearly 400 research projects around the world. The Association's programs are funded almost entirely by individual private contributors. MDA seeks no government grants, United Way funding or fees from those it serves. This was an issue that struck very close to home in Cross Country Education and an issue the company, and its employees, felt very strong about and even though the month is over we are still proud to support this organization in any way, shape, or form.
October 2006  Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded on a promise made between two sisters – Susan Goodman Komen and Nancy Goodman Brinker. Suzy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1978, a time when little was known about the disease and it was rarely discussed in public. Before she died at the age of 36, Suzy asked her sister to do everything possible to bring an end to breast cancer. Nancy kept her promise by establishing the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in 1982 in Suzy’s memory. For more than 20 years, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been a global leader in the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research and community-based outreach programs. Working through a network of U.S. and international Affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure®, the Komen Foundation is fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by funding research grants and supporting education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world. It is Cross Country Educations honor to help support this promise as well.
