PREREQUISITES
ELIGIBILITY
It is recommended that participants in Nurse Manager Boot Camp have some Nurse Manager experience, although it is not a requirement.
SELF-ASSESSMENT: Learning About Self And Getting Help From Others
Cross Country Education has partnered with a consulting firm that
specializes in psychometric assessments to provide an inside look at
oneself. Each Boot Camp participant will complete two online self-assessments.
Self-assessments are in two domains, entitled “Knowledge
for Leaders” and “Knowledge for Teams.” Participants will receive a
psychometric analysis that identifies individualized outcomes of their
strengths and needs and also identifies benchmarks compared to other
participants. Participants will learn how to interpret their own analysis and
will be able to discuss with faculty questions they may have regarding the
results. Boot Camp faculty will also use the self-assessment findings to
tailor each session to participants’ individual learning needs and to assist
participants in the development of a plan for continued
professional growth.
PERSONALIZE THE EXPERIENCE: Submit Your Materials
We need you to help us learn more about you—where you work and what
your managerial role entails. Shortly after your registration is confirmed,
you will be asked to complete the online self-assessments, and tell us more
about yourself as well. To assist in our understanding of your role, we ask
you to bring a job description for your position, an organizational chart for
your nursing department, a copy of your current unit budget and a current
four-week staffing schedule for your unit. These materials help everyone in
making your experience more relevant to your needs and help the faculty
maximize personal attention. back to top
COMMITMENT AGREEMENT
Learning is a continuous process. Our faculty members are committed to helping participants beyond the actual Boot Camp itself. Post-Boot Camp, participants apply what they have learned to their own real-life situations. As we all know and expect, when the participants return to their facilities, they will be very busy. We hope to help ensure that the learning process continues by requiring each participant to design his/her Learning Commitment Agreement before leaving Boot Camp. The commitment agreement stipulates what, how and when you plan on applying some of the knowledge gained over a 30-, 60- and 90-day period. Upon returning to work, we ask that participants review their agreements with their immediate supervisor(s) and ask him or her to assist you in implementing the plan. Each participant is asked to submit a monthly managerial report, for three consecutive months, documenting application of Boot Camp knowledge. Faculty will provide feedback and guidance as requested. Moreover, online live chats focused on management subjects will be offered monthly. back to top
