401 - Pediatric Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy for Neuromotor Impairment
Donald Earley OTD, MA, OTR
Pediatric Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) is a promising contemporary approach to improving the function and performance of a child's affected upper extremity as a result of a congenital or acquired neuromotor condition. This technique supports the use of traditional neurodevelopmental and motor recovery therapies in which constraint of the non-affected upper extremity, combined with structured clinical and naturalistic forced repetitive use of the affected hand and arm, work to enhance the child's ability to use his/her impaired upper extremity.
