Track 1
102 - Rehabilitation of the Shoulder Based on EMG Evidence
Tim L. Uhl Ph.D., ATC, PT, FNATA
Electromyographical (EMG) studies have long provided clinicians useful insights into which muscle and to what extent the muscles are being used during an exercise. This session will review the basics of kinesiological EMG, as well as limitations and strengths, in order to help the clinician better interpret the information that is in the literature about rehabilitation exercises. The presenter will provide an exercise progression from "pendulum to plyometrics" for shoulder rehabilitation based on the available EMG literature and then present his own research.
