Track 2
203 - Assessment and Treatment of Scapular Dysfunction
Tim L. Uhl Ph.D., ATC, PT, FNATA
Alterations in scapular position and motion may occur in individuals with upper extremity dysfunctions. Scapular dyskinesis may contribute to or develop because of glenohumeral dysfunctions. This session will describe normal scapular kinematics and dysfunctional scapular patterns of motion. Using an evidence-based approach, methods of a clinical examination of scapular kinematics and dyskinesis will be described and presented. Intervention approaches for shoulder impairments, particularly scapular dysfunction, will be presented as they relate to upper extremity pathologies. After this programming, clinicians will better be able to recognize and manage upper extremity dysfunctions that involve scapular dyskinesis.
