Track 4
403 - Assessing and Treating Balance Problems in Children
Michelle Fryt Linehan MSPT, PCS, M.Ed.
Determining the cause of balance problems in children requires a multifaceted approach that systematically looks at the sensory inputs (visual, vestibular and somatosensory) and motor outputs that can contribute to
poor postural control or loss of balance. This session will discuss the development of balance/postural control in children, give an organized way for assessing the various dimensions related to balance and provide numerous ideas for treatment. A case study will be used to illustrate the assessment and treatment process.
