At Cross Country Education we have the best of the best from across the country impacting the lives every day of students in the schools they serve. Their clear vision, dedication to education and joy for what they do shines daily.
We take great pride in the shared passion for education and love sharing their words of wisdom, sage advice for those just starting out in the field and great insight into the rewarding field of education. We are always delighted when one of our field staff share insights with us – we call them Lessons from the Field.
This week we want to celebrate Ally Nanji, School Psychologist. Ally took some time to share her reasons for choosing the education field and offer up some advice for those just starting out.
Why did you become a school psychologist?
As a classroom teacher, seeing students succeed educationally was exciting. As a case manager, I was drawn to the individualized and evaluative work of school psychologists. Thorough, objective assessment clearly offered great insight for strong educational programs!
What do you like about Cross Country Education (formerly DirectEd)?
Our amazing SpEd office is always available to support.
What have you liked about your experience working at schools with Cross Country Education?
With assigned cases, each layer of assessment and collaboration builds. The icing on the cake is seeing student specific, proactive plans effect positive change. A multitude of DirectEd cases, students and settings means I’m always learning!
What kind of advice would you give to those starting out in your field?
After qualifying, I sought work at every type of setting (traditional, non-public, alternative, out of state, abroad) and level (preschool up through pupils in their early 20’s). Strive to be versatile and gain as much knowledge as possible from excellent colleagues and mentors!
Thank you, Ally, for all you do! We are grateful to have you as a part of the Cross Country Education team!
