In celebration of National School Nurse Day and National Nurses’ Week, we are proud to turn the spotlight on two amazing members of our school nurse team: Liezel Z. and Jennifer B.!

These two credentialed school nurses have gone above and beyond to care for students and support schools for a safe reopening. Here’s what the team had to say about Liezel and Jennifer:

“Liezel and Jennifer have been instrumental in not only providing nursing services to students on campuses but also providing daily COVID testing to help schools as they reopen. They regularly collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that the students' needs are met, showing true resilience and grit! Our nurses help get students and staff back on campus safely and offer the peace of mind that makes student learning possible!”

We are honored to work with Liezel, Jennifer, and all of the school nurses who improve the health and wellbeing of students – especially during this challenging time!

About National School Nurse Day and National Nurses’ Week

Wednesday, May 12, is National School Nurse Day, a time to show our appreciation for school nurses and their dedication to supporting the health and learning of children and teens across our nation.

The theme for this National School Nurse Day is Championing the Whole Student, and it highlights school nurses’ dedication to supporting the mental and physical health of students and their academic readiness, especially during COVID. National School Nurse Day was established in 1972 and wraps up National Nurses’ Week, which is May 6-12.

About School Nurses

School nurses focus on “bridging health and education to improve each child’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional development, regardless of whether they are physically present in school or not” (NASN). They help ensure students are prepared for learning by providing care for complex chronic conditions and addressing mental health issues. School nurses also promote healthy behaviors, handle medical emergencies, advocate for student wellbeing, and ensure all kids have access to care, regardless of socio-economic status or resources. They have been instrumental in helping students, teachers, administrators, staff, and families get through the COVID-19 pandemic.
