Celebrating School Counselor, Nilou P.
At Cross Country Education, we're honored to work with professionals from across the nation who are dedicated to improving kids' lives daily! We take great pride in their shared passion for helping students succeed, and we love passing along their insight to inspire others interested in school positions. This time, we're spotlighting one of our amazing school counselors Nilou P.
Here's why Nilou decided to become a school counselor, what she enjoys most about working with the Cross Country Education team and schools, and what advice she has for school counselors starting their careers.
Why did you become a school counselor?
All throughout my life, I was intrigued and fascinated by educating the youth. I was in their shoes when I was younger, and I could visibly see how a professional bond and custom fit guidance made an impact of a lifetime on me. Even though I had 3 elementary through high school aged kids, I decided to go back to school and study to become a counselor. I am so happy I did it. I cherish the education and the memories that I have from it with all my heat for as long as I live.
What do you like about working through Cross Country Education (CCE)?
My recruiter Kennyshua made everything so easy and I appreciated the process greatly. CCE has provided the resources for me to be able to do what I love and enjoy my life, knowing that wherever I go, I can still leave my impact and contribution to this society. Kennyshua’s keen eyes provided for my productivity. Her professionalism, the care that she devotes, and her guidance and honesty are the key to knowing that I am working with true professionals.
What have you liked about working at the schools with CCE?
When the administration knows that I am there from CCE, they know and are confident that a caring and knowledgeable person is working for them. They know that CCE matches them with whom they are looking for. I appreciate working with CCE.
What advice would you give someone starting as a school counselor?
The first aspect of counseling how you pave the path with your students for them to walk on by being empathic and guiding them. Every student has a specific path and when you see it from their point of view, you will be able to help them travel it with joy and reach their destination. And then comes the fact, that your passion will create a magic that is lifelasting for both you and your student.
