We’re Spotlighting Patricia W., School Nurse

At Cross Country Education, we're honored to work with professionals from across the nation who are dedicated to improving kids' lives daily! We take great pride in their shared passion for helping students succeed, and we love passing along their insight to inspire others interested in school positions. This time, we're spotlighting one of our outstanding school nurses, Patricia W.

Here's why Patricia decided to become a school nurse, what she enjoys most about working with the Cross Country Education team and schools, and what advice she has for nurses just starting their careers.

Why did you become a school nurse?

I have been a registered nurse and nursing professor for many years. I went into nursing as most do to help people. I always want to have a positive impact on every patient’s life. I became a nursing professor many years later and found my love for teaching.

What do you like about working with Cross Country Education?

Cross Country Education was the first agency I have ever worked with, and I am very impressed. CCE offers me the ability to work part time at a wonderful school I am truly grateful to my CCE recruiter, Stephanie, and I chose Cross Country Education because of her professionalism, knowledge and responsiveness. She kept me fully informed about this job opportunity and addressed any concerns that I had. She’s very courteous and polite, and I can actually “see” her smile through the phone.

What have you liked about your experience working at schools with Cross Country Education?

Working as a school nurse/educator at the college I work with through Cross Education is the perfect fit for me. I am utilizing my nursing skills on all of the children and their bumps and bruises while preparing and training the school’s faculty. As a result, I get to treat and care for the children (had one faculty member who needed a nurse) and use my skills as an educator by training the staff.

What kind of advice would you give to those starting out as a nurse?

With a nursing degree, you have the opportunity to work in a field that offers tremendous diversity – you can do anything!
