Popular Neighborhoods

One of the best neighborhoods in the Los Angeles area, South Pasadena, is known for being the home of the Rose Parade and features historic landmarks, museums, farmers markets and trendy cafes. A near suburb is Glendale, which features hiking and recreation with the Verdugo Mountains, outdoor shopping with The American at Brand and the Glendale Galleria and local restaurants and entertainment. Another great neighborhood, mostly known for Universal Studios and movie entertainment studios, is Burbank, which also offers restaurants, coffee shops and parks that almost feel like a small town. A hip city also known for its film and television production is Culver City, which is one of the best suburbs for young professionals and offers trendy restaurants, bars and entertainment. Lastly, rated the best suburb to live in California by Niche.com, Santa Monica is a beachside city that features sunny weather and picturesque views of the coast, including the Santa Monica Pier and the Santa Monica mountains.

Fabulous Food and Drink

Los Angeles is fantastic fun for foodies – from the LA Food Fest , which reminds you not to forget to wear your stretchy pants, to the LA Chocolate Salon , where you can “experience the finest in artisan, gourmet, and premium chocolate. ” Among LA’s most interesting restaurants are Republique , where you can enjoy Channel Islands rockfish or white truffle risotto in a brick, tile, and ironwork structure built in 1928 by Charlie Chaplin, and Luv2eat Thai Bistro, where Chef Fern and Chef Pla from Phuket will serve up some extra spicy cashew nut chicken followed by Thai tea pudding. And if you’re into celebrity spotting while you dine, you can try Cecconi’s of West Hollywood on Melrose Avenue.

As for drink, if you want to feel sophisticated, the Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Dom. du Vieux Télégraphe at Bar Marmont sounds fancy. Or perhaps the Pour Hausv Wine Bar is more your speed, where you can pick up a “$5 Drinkypoo” and take your pick of “red, white, sparkling, or sangria.” There’s plenty for beer drinkers to enjoy – like the LA Beer Fest or Hopped LA . Outstanding Arts and Music

If you love art, do not miss The Getty , where you can enjoy European art, modern art, fascinating architecture, and meandering gardens. Additionally, the LA County Museum of Art features impressive outdoor art including Urban Light, a sculpture made of 202 restored street lamps circa 1920-1930, and Levitated Mass, a 340-ton rock of granite balanced on a long concrete trench.

Awesome Adventures

Are you an adventurer? Take a two-mile hike through Wildwood Park to see the beautiful, 40-foot Paradise Falls or embark on a more rigorous adventure to the Bridge to Nowhere as you scramble up hillsides and wade through waist-deep water. If you’re feeling touristy, visit Universal Studios and go on the Jurassic Park Ride. Then check out Disneyland and see the Star Wars attraction.
