On the Southwest section of the city, you’ll find Campbell which offers a more suburban lifestyle than that of West San Jose. Another suburban option is Cabrian, a great option that has highly rated public schools. If you’re looking for even more green space while still having access to the city, Silver Creek Valley is for you.

Fabulous Food and Drink

If you consider yourself a gourmand, try Geronimo. The ambiance is stunning. You can try Fiery Sweet Chile and Honey Grilled Mexican White Prawns or Tellicherry Rubbed Elk Tenderloin in the warm and elegant Borrego adobe house built in 1756. For something more relaxed and affordable,eat at Hapa Musubi. Musubi is “a simple Hawaiian and Japanese influenced meal simply made of a type of protein, a block of rice, and wrapped with seaweed,” and it sounds delicious!

If you love wine, you must take a vineyard tour. There are over 150 wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountains just 20 minutes outside of San Jose! If beer is more you’re thing, Uproar Brewing Company has an extensive array of IPAs, ales, and stouts to try. For tea drinkers, there is Pekoe Sip House, where you can try bubble teas and tea lattes. For coffee lovers, stop in for a Mexican Mocha at MoonBean’s.

Outstanding Arts and Music

Into the art scene? Plan a day trip to explore the San Jose Museum of Art, which features engaging exhibits of modern and contemporary art. Or just take a walk downtown, where you’ll find art installations, many of them interactive, on nearly every corner!

For music, check out the ArtBoutiki. It’s a small music venue with a café and a comic book store. The Caravan Lounge is the city’s oldest music venue which is fun for those into the comedy, punk, or burlesque scene. Love opera? See Verde’s Il Travatore at the San Jose Opera.
