Congratulations to our September 2019 ECE Teacher of the Month Samantha Berumen! Samantha shared some advice for those starting out in the field as well as why she chooses DirectEd Educational Services.

Why did you become an early childhood educator?

Since I was 14 years old and started babysitting, I got inspired to work with kids and knew I wanted to become a teacher. When I graduated high school, I signed up for college to major in child development and as I started taking the classes I became more passionate about my decision working with children.

What do you like about DirectEd?

I that they are flexible with their schedule and the staff are very nice, well mannered, and display great professionalism. They communicate through text messages and email about openings in areas near me.

What have you liked about your experience working at schools with DirectEd?

In my experience after substituting from different locations in head start, I learned how each teacher brings a different teaching style that I can use mixed with my own methods.

What kind of advice would you give to those starting out in your field?

The advice I would give is to be prepared, have patience, be creative, and most importantly have fun.

Congratulations, again, Samantha and we are so fortunate to have you on the team! Your passion for education and children shines bright.

We are passionate about developing teachers, special education providers, and school support professionals. If you are interested in learning more about DirectEd Education Services and joining our team please visit direct-ed.net/team.
